Bay Area-bred producer/rapper Droop-E -- son of the legendary E-40 -- teamed up with streetwear brands Black Scale and Diamond Supply Co. for a collaborative project comprised of limited tees and a free music project, called Blvck Diamond Life.

On the eight-track effort, he samples several of Sade's classic tracks for hip-hop translations.

This is the latest visual off the project. Droop-E hooked up with director Damon Jamal for the clip for "Like A Tattoo, in which the rapper lounges in the hills of the Bay Area, spitting bars about a lady so sick wit it, he wears her like a tattoo.

Conscious Daughters Rapper Special One Memorial Info

If you haven't heard by now, the world of music, and the Bay Area hip-hop scene, in particular, lost a Special One this weekend. Karryl Smith, half of the East Oakland-bred group the Conscious Daughters, better known as Special One, passed away on December 10. Her cause of death is unknown at this time.

As the Conscious Daughters, Smith and Carla Green (aka CMG) were a breakthrough act in the early Nineties, a pair of street-smart and fly ladies who rapped as relentlessly tough as any of their male counterparts. Buoyed by the singles “Somethin’ To Ride To (Fonky Expedition)” and “We Roll Deep,” the debut album Ear to the Street dropped in 1993 on Priority Records via Scarface Records, an imprint helmed by the politically charged rapper Paris. The album hit the Billboard Top 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Top 25, and Gamers followed in 1996, with its title track affirming that women had considerable macking and sporting skills of their own.

Paris also released the group’s third and final album The Nutcracker Suite on his Guerilla Funk label in 2009, praised for its balance of street hard tracks and female empowerment anthems. More recently, Smith and Green had departed the label and signed an agreement for their own company Llerrad Music to be distributed through Sony Red. CMG released a solo album, Jane of All Trades, in June, and the duo was getting ready to drop the fourth album from the Conscious Daughters.

The stereotypical image of the female rapper in 2011 is hyper-sexualized and animated, but back in the Nineties, women such as the Conscious Daughters were allowed to be rugged, strong, and smooth, and still be recognized for their lyrical talents and abilities.

Carla Green posted a message regarding Smith's death on her Facebook page, writing, "Thank you to everyone for your prayers I need them. I am sick over the loss of my sister. The cause of death is still unknown but I will try to share info when I get it. Pray for me and Karryl's other sisters Jessica and Tonya. We are all together trying to get through this."

“We know inside that we’re the best at what we do,” Special One told Bay Area writer and activist Davey D in a 2009 interview,“We love what we do and we can flow with the best of them.”

Paris adds, "Karryl was one of the sweetest, kindest people I've ever had the pleasure of crossing paths with. She was genuine, talented and brutally honest. She will be missed."

From the Family:

Thank you for your prayers and condolences. We are very sad to have lost our sister, Karryl Smith to complications from a blood clot. We have set up a memorial fund so the family can give her a beautiful home going. She meant so much to so many people. No contribution is too small, as she also has a son who will need to be cared for. Anything you can do will help, and will be appreciated.

Producer Bosko takes his own experience and financial nightmare to inspire the heartfelt "Occupy Until Wall Street Crumbles"... Read the story behind the song below and you will see where his inspiration comes from.

The Occupy Walls Street movement is personal for multi-talented, Grammy Award Winning Platinum producer, rapper, singer and songwriter Bosko, and you can hear it in his new song "Occupy Until...".

When Bosko used his lifesavings and a bank loan to build his family dream home, he never dreamed the bank would go out of business. Nonetheless, in the middle of construction, the federal government seized IndyMac Bank for illegal business practices, stopping Bosko's loan and preventing him from building his family home. To make matters worse, another bank acquired Bosko's loan from IndyMac and threatened to foreclose. Pushed up against the wall, Bosko decided to fight back. Representing himself with no law degree, the USC graduate was able to sue the Banks, and through a grueling two-year federal court battle, stop the foreclosure, and force a favorable settlement.

Now, on the heels of his recent success as a writer and performer on J. Cole's #1 Album and worldwide hit "Workout", Bosko felt it was time to add his voice to the Occupy Wall Street Movement with his new song "Occupy Until..."
